Our Techniques
Chiropractic
Every Chiropractor treats in a different way but with a similar goal; to reduce pain and improve mobility. At Berowra Chiropractic & Health we use a range of techniques.
Activator
Activator is a low-force adjustment technique.
Diversified
This treatment is one of the most commonly used methods used by chiropractors. Diversified technique uses a high-velocity, low-amplitude thrust which is associated with popping sensation.
SOT
Sacro-occipital technique is one of the chiropractic’s more gentle techniques. Its name is formed from the relationship between the sacrum (base of the spine and the occiput (base of the skull).
S.O.T is not practiced by all chiropractors.
Massage Therapy
Our massage therapists use a combination of these techniques depending on the patient’s health
- Remedial Massage- If you have particular muscle tension or chronic pain a remedial massage may be for you. The treatment itself may involve deep tissue work for short periods of time and works on specific muscle groups that are tight, stiff or sore.
- Relaxation Massage- A relaxation massage helps de-stress and loosen up your body and is for a more general therapeutic effect. The treatment consists of flowing strokes, kneading and gentle pressure on muscles. It is a pain free way to relax both your muscles and your mind, not to relieve chronic pain or other underlying ailments.
- Aromatherapy- Aromatherapy uses fragrant oils extracted from herbs, flowers and fruits to naturally enhance the benefits of massage.
- Pregnancy Massage- Pregnancy massage shares many of the goals of regular massage – to relax tense muscles, ease sore spots, improve circulation and mobility. But it’s also tailored specifically to the needs of pregnant women and their changing bodies, and techniques are adjusted accordingly.
Acupuncture
Acupuncture involves stimulation of specific acupoints in the body to correct imbalances in the flow of qi or ‘life energy’ flowing through the body’s meridians. Generally acupuncture is performed with the insertion of slim needles into the skin, but can also include moxibustion (burning herbs) and cupping (placing suction cups on the skin).
